Good day,

is there a way to create such a menu as in the following website:

http://lexicon.com

If the same is not possible is there a way to make something very close to this menu? I am not sure if this can be done in DHTML Menu or if this is AJAX based menu.

Regards, Rashid

That's just a standard DHTML menu, plain & simple: http://www.lexicon.com/menu/main-navigation.js

Would you be able to make this menu: www.davina.nl?
I realise it maybe isn't fair because it's a Flash menu, but I am very curieus if it's possible to create this with DHTML menu builder.

Well, it resulted to be easier than I thought!
Attached is a ZIP file containing the AddIn that will enable this animation along with a project to test it:
  • Unzip the attached file
  • Right click the "HorizontalAnimation" AddIn and select "Install AddIn"
  • When done, open the testMenu.dmb project with DHTML Menu Builder 4.20.09 (or above)
  • Click Tools->Preview to test the effect...

notice how the menus don't drop-down until you click one of the items.
after you click one, then each will drop-down when you hover over the item.
i'm not sure how i'd do this with DHTML Menu Builder.

Hello nctjr,

This behavior is not supported by DHTML Menu Builder but it is quite easy to implement thought a special AddIn.
Attached is a ZIP file that contains this special AddIn along with a menu for you to test it with. When developing your own menu, make sure that toolbar item's action to display their submenus is set using the "Click" event, instead of the default "Over" event.

Great!
If it's not too much to ask, would it be possible that you post back when your web site is ready so that I can see your implementation?

Well, this one took me some time but I think I did it.

As you may already know, DHTML Menu Builder does not natively support multi-column menus but, thanks to the ShowMultipleToolbars AddIn, you can easily create multiple toolbars and arrange them as if each toolbar was a column.

This particular project required the use of 5 toolbars to be able to mimic the multi-column menu displayed under the "Shows" item of MTV.com's web site.

Here's how the menus created with DHTML Menu Builder look:
Attached Image

Enjoy...

NOTE: Remember to download the ShowMultipleToolbars AddIn before you try to preview the attached project.

I have also added these menus to "Challenge" section where you can see them in action:

Greetings Xavier,

Were trying to develop a navigation bar that has a double horizontal menu bar allowing the sub-level to drill down into vertical menus. Wed like the following things to happen:

On the first level of the horizontal menu the:

1. Color Changes on selected top bar item upon click
2. Font is bolded on selected top bar item upon click

The sub-menu is highlighted with matching color
4. Sub-menu items are rendered based on the first level selection
5. Dividers between sub-menu items
6. Allow for drill down vertically from sub-items. (upon roll over)

Vertical menu items from the second level:
7. Support icons and form fields
8. Highlight sub-menu items when rolled over/selected.

Screenshots included but I have a password protected site of working functionality that Ill send in a direct message to you.
What do you think?

Hello cdoherty,

This is perfectly doable (actually, I think I have already created very similar samples).

Could you please email me (or post here) higher resolution samples so that I can have a better view for the styles you would like to implement?

Great...good news. I tried sending you a direct message but got an error so I'll attached screen shots that will hopefully come out better. Otherwise, let me know where I can send you the link and user/pass and you can see a working example.

Well... it took me some time (about an hour and a half) but I think I did it.

Here's how it looks like:

Attached is a ZIP file containing the project for DHTML Menu Builder 4.20.015 and the AddIn that the project requires.
To install the AddIn simply double click it.

Looks great...missing just one minor piece. There is a darker colored separation bar between the top and bottom navigation bars. Can this be added as well?

Oops... I forgot about that.

Here's an updated version.

So you know, the color of that bar is controlled through the background color of each of the toolbar items:
