For the past 18 months we have allowed you to test the power and flexibility of DHTML Menu Builder by providing us with challenges and see if DHTML Menu Builder was really able to create any type of pull-down menu.
Well, now its our turn... and now, we're the ones doing the challenge.

We already know that DHTML Menu Builder can be used to create anything from the simplest menu to the most complex menus we have ever seen, but we want to see if you are able to take the most our of DHTML Menu Builder and create any type of pull-down menu with it (just like we did with your challenges).

So, here's our first challenge:
  • Visit this web site: http://mexicano.blog.deejay.it/
  • Start up DHTML Menu Builder (any version) and create a menu that mimics, as close as possible, the menus on the web site
  • Do not create menus with the exact same content as those found on the web site
  • Do not create pure-image-based menus (that is, menus that consist of images only)
  • Do not use the images from my submission (see next post); those images have been watermarked so I'll know if you cheated wink.gif
  • Do not post your project; instead, post a screenshot of your menus (from DHTML Menu Builder's preview window) and then email me the project; make sure you include your forum nick name in the email.
The winner will get US$250.00
Yep, you read that just right... the winner will get US$250.00

Now, to the boring part, the rules:
  • You must use DHTML Menu Builder to build the menus (you can use any version, even the DEMO version)
  • You cannot use any type of AddIn
  • Payment will be made through PayPal so you must have a PayPal account to participate
  • The challenge ends November 30
  • The winner will be picked by me, Xavier Flix (aka "xfx"), based on how close your menus mimic those at the referred web site
  • Check the next post were I present my submission; your menus must look and behave equally or better than mine
  • I reserve the rights to not pick a winner in the case that the submissions do not equal or improve my own submission
So, what are you waiting for? Get to work and show us all your skills!

So, here's how my menus look like: http://software.xfx.net/utilities/dmbuilde.../requests/req1/

Make sure your menus provide "something else" so they have a chance to beat me and win the US$250.00 price.

I'm still looking for the "challenge". Could it be to spot the design mistake on the menu in the website at: http://mexicano.blog.deejay.it/

Nice to see, Xavier, that you didn't fall into the same trap!
Ho, Ho, Ho!!!! and LOL, of course.

Dear JohnM,

No the challenge is much simpler: just re-create the menus so they as similar as possible to those at the original web site. That's it, plain and simple.

There are a few things that I didn't mimic in my version of the menus... so whoever is able to to improve upon my version will win the price.

Well, I suppose someone has to go first, so here's my effort. Have tried to make more of the colors. This menu works from the keyboard as well as the mouse. Ctrl. then keyboard arrows. See it working here

WOW! I just received 12 new entries today! I guess everybody was waiting for the last day.

This means that I will not be able to review them all and announce the winner today.
I will do my best to finish reviewing all the entries today and I'll announce the winner tomorrow.

I'm still evaluating all the entires... a the last minute I received 47 entries!!!
It's 1:00am here and I still have to evaluate 22 more entries.

I think I'm going to sleep... I'm just too tired right now sad.gif

So, hopefully, we'll know who's the winner sometime tomorrow.

--------------

Weird thing: over 90% of the entries are from already-resgitered users. I was hoping this could be some sort of incentive to new commers...

PuLLi
Acording to the "World Clock" website. We in the UK (GMT) are only 4 hours in front of Xavier so I was wrong in my last post. Fed in Cologne and that is 5 hours in front of Xavier. It is now 13.07 hrs here and 09.07 in Xaviers bedroom. I think it is about time he was up and about. tongue.gif
