comdlg32.ocx not registered

i intalled dxvu v.2 on a secondary machine and got the error message of "comdlg32.ocx not correctly registered; file missing or invaild."
i think this happened the first time i installed this and i can't remember what the solution was.
i'm running windows xp home.

DXVU Meter is inteded for developers which usually have all the distribution runtime libraries installed on their systems.

Because of this, the setup for DXVU Meter does not install the libraries it requires to work (as we assume developers already have them installed).

However, if you're not a developer but you're still interested in DXVU Meter you will need to download and install the latest runtime libraries from Microsoft:

i downloaded the vbruntime files and installed them but still the same error. and other ideas?

hmmm...

Well, almost every application we develop uses this control.
So you could try downloading DHTML Menu Builder 3.5 and installing it.

The setup will install (and update if necessary) all the VB runtime libraries.

Test the control and if it works then uninstall DHTML Menu Builder. NOTE: Uninstalling DHTML Menu Builder will NOT remove the runtime libraries.
